Rotherham Ladies' History Formerly known as Rotherwick Ladies, Rotherham have been a strong force in the Sheffield and district league for years. Rotherham ladies firmly established themselves at the top of Sheffield and district Division for numerous seasons. During this time because of the success and popularity of the club Rotherham entered a second team into the league. Recent seasons have seen the First team and second team finish first and second for continuous seasons. Due to this Rotherham 1sts were promoted to the North East Feeder league for the 2003-2004 season where at present we are joint top, and very confident of promotion to northern division one! Similarly Rotherham 2s are holding their own in the Sheffield and District league winning every game this season. The success of the club can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of the club coach and former England u21 coach Lyn Robinson who is a legend in her own right. We are coached to play a skilful game of hockey which is a joy to watch and we are encouraged to work for our team mates and the team. Both teams have outstanding individual players however the success of this season is due to a tremendous team ethos and team cohesion on and off the pitch. It is a joy to play for one another and the future of this club is looking increasingly promising. |
